by Vincent

One of the many Belgian waffles shops in Brussels. Here located on rue de l’Étuve a few steps from the famous Manneken Pis statue. Recipe is below.

Want to try and make them in the comfort of your own home ?

Here’s the recipe for Belgian waffles:

  • In a mixing bowl put 250 grams of Flour with a spoonful of sugar, a large pinch of powdered vanilla, a small one of salt and eight egg yolks and mix it all together
  • Then slowly blend in half a liter of sweetened cream or fresh milk
  • Melt 250 grams of butter in a pan
  • Whip the eight egg whites until they are very stiff
  • Add the melted butter to the original mixture followed by the whipped egg whites
  • Lightly grease a waffle iron and heat
  • Fill one side with a good spoonful of the waffle mix and close the iron
  • Cook until it has a golden color
  • Serve with some icing sugar or the topping of your choice
  • Enjoy!

I like the Liege waffles that you can buy in the Metro stations better, especially hot and fresh.

I am willing to open a business, and I have researched a lot about some types of business. Had in the belgica precisely in Brussels and Antwerp, about 2 times, and I became interested enough in the waffle shop. And a kind of food that appeals to everyone, and we can use creativity to make recipes varied, and the place not to be great, and I will not believe that high costs.
I live in northeastern Brazil, sunny weather here has not much culture waffles, this project will be innovative.
In some coffee shops are selling waffle, but not very attractive, but the dough is very thick and people do not demand much. The mass in belgica is lighter and crisp.

I will train a person to make the waffle, you think that anyone can do? or there must be a lot of training?
I would like to know a very important tip in the preparation of this mass?
which the waffle request more of your menu?

Please, this is very important to me, and I shall be very grateful if you can help me with some tips and information.

Concerning your waffle making question on my blog…

I believe this could be an interesting idea to open a market for Belgian waffles in Brasil..

My dad who currently lives in Natal passed by to visit me in Brussels yesterday and I recall he told me getting a waffle was one of the 1st things he did on arrival in Belgium. So I am pretty sure he can't find them there.

I have only eaten them and never went to the process of making one myself but I think it mustn't be that hard to do if you have all the ingredients and follow the proper steps.

Maybe you'll want to look this up and give it a try:

Hello – doesn't Belgian waffle have yeast in their ingredients? This recipe seems more American (whipped egg whites). But I am to understand that only through reading the internet recipe blogs and spheres. Could I be wrong?

There are about a dozen or so different types of Belgian Waffles. The one from Brussels is one of the few that doesn't contain yeast.

Recipes do vary:
