La cure gourmande is candy store where they sell a wide variety of home made sweets. First opened in 1989 their initial idea was to reintroduce the good old ancient traditional products that were popular a hundred or so years ago. They have since branched out around 25 stores around France and Belgium and now most recently opened a new outlet in Barcelona. This one is located at 38 rue au beurre on the street that takes you to the Grand Place.

This is like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I've been to those shops in France (the first time actually during my honeymoon) and they are just a joyful experience (other than paying the bill, but that is also sweetened with a free taste of one of those delightful biscuits, nougat etc). Not cheap, but totally worth the experience and staff members are always helpful and friendly. I would particularly recommend the chocolate covered almonds sold as "Chocolate Olives" – they are a true delight.
