I've been to those shops in France (the first time actually during my honeymoon) and they are just a joyful experience (other than paying the bill, but that is also sweetened with a free taste of one of those delightful biscuits, nougat etc). Not cheap, but totally worth the experience and staff members are always helpful and friendly. I would particularly recommend the chocolate covered almonds sold as "Chocolate Olives" - they are a true delight. This is like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
